Godai-jinja is a Shinto shrine in the city of Komazawa, Hokuto, Ishikawa Prefecture, which was originally established at the site of a sacred river crossing point. The shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens and the legendary "Godai Stone", a sacred stone said to have been used by the legendary founder of the Godai clan who ruled the area.

Visitor tip
To avoid long lines, visit the shrine early in the morning or later in the evening when the sunlight casts a beautiful glow on the gardens.
Cultural notes
The shrine is associated with the legend of Kaito-no-Hachiman, a Shinto god who is said to have been worshipped by the Godai clan. The shrine also hosts an annual festival, Komazawa Godai-jinja Matsuri, which features traditional dances and games.
