二荒神社

Miyagi

Located in the city of Ishinomaki, in Miyagi Prefecture, Hikarigai-arao-no-ma Shrine is one of Japan's most historic shrines, dedicated to the storm god Inazuma Takatsutsui (Inari). The shrine's name literally translates to 'the well where storm gods reside'. It was built during the Nara period (710-794 CE), and its architecture reflects the Heian style. Over time, it has undergone several transformations, including a renovation in the Edo period (1603-1867 CE). Today, visitors can see the shrine's unique five-story pagoda and enjoy traditional Japanese festivals.
