Visitor tip
When visiting, consider visiting during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) to see the beautiful blooming trees in full bloom.
Cultural notes
Dayo Shrine is famous for its association with Susanoo no Mikoto, a storm god and one of the most important kami in Shinto mythology. The shrine is also known for its unique 'shinmei-jinja' style architecture, which features a large torii gate and a vermilion roof.
