Located in Iwakuni, a city with strong ties to the Yamato period and the Soga brothers' legendary revenge against the imperial court, is not relevant here. This Eight Horses Temple Shrine of Sanada-yama was originally established in 736 AD during the Nara period. The shrine's association with good fortune, prosperity, and protection has been well-documented throughout Japanese history. Its architecture reflects a mix of Chinese and Japanese styles. A statue of the Eight Horses deity, known as Hachiman, stands before its main hall.
