Ishihara Shrine, located in the city of Kariya in Aichi Prefecture, is one of Japan's most famous Shinto shrines dedicated to the god of rice, Inari Okami. Unlike Ishihara Shrine in Niigata, which is dedicated to Inari, our shrine honors the kami associated with rice and agriculture, as well as the local Niigatan region's patron deity. The shrine's history dates back to the Heian period, and its architecture reflects this by incorporating elements typical of that era.

Cultural notes
As Niigata is known for its rich agricultural heritage, this shrine emphasizes the importance of rice and the local kami associated with it. The shrine also holds an annual harvest festival to celebrate the changing of the seasons and ensure bountiful harvests.
Historical note
Established in 1885, during the Meiji period, as a new shrine to replace an older one from the Edo period.
