Dayagiyama Shrine, dedicated to the god of storms and weather, located on a hill overlooking the city of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture. The shrine is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage and vibrant spring cherry blossoms. It's said that the shrine's main deity, Dayagiyamasama, watches over the city from his perch at the top of the hill.

Visitor tip
Visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and enjoy the stunning pink blooms along the hill's path leading up to the shrine.
Cultural notes
Dayagiyama Shrine is also famous for its annual Dayagiyama Matsuri festival, which takes place on October 10th. During the festival, participants parade through the streets in colorful costumes, carrying lanterns and performing traditional dances.
Historical note
The shrine was established in 718 by Prince Nagaya, a member of the Imperial Family.
