Tennanso-ji Temple is a Shinto shrine located in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Cultural notes
Tennanso-ji Temple is also famous for its unique association with the legend of Tsukimono-gatana, a magical sword said to have been given to the legendary Japanese warrior Miyamoto Musashi. According to myth, the sword can be found at the shrine's inner sanctum during times of great turmoil.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 1601 during the Edo period as a shrine to honor the deified spirit of the daimyo (feudal lord) Date Masamune.
