Located in the Seto Inland Sea region of Kagawa Prefecture, Myojin-ya Shrine is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and the storm god Susanoo. The shrine's name roughly translates to 'place where one can see clearly.' It is a notable example of traditional Japanese architecture in the Sanuki style.

Cultural notes
As a major Shinto pilgrimage site, Myojin-ya Shrine is closely associated with the mythology of the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine's torii gate is adorned with prayer charms and offerings for good fortune, prosperity, and protection from natural disasters.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being damaged by a flood in 1600.
