Located in the heart of Echigo Sanzan, a sacred mountain range in Niigata Prefecture, Ōdō Shrine is dedicated to the Shinto god of agriculture and fertility, Ryūjin. The shrine's main hall is a beautiful example of traditional Japanese architecture, with a tiled roof and sliding doors made of rice paper. The surrounding forest is said to be inhabited by various kami, including Ryūjin, Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and Fujin.
