Located in the mountains of Niigata Prefecture, ancient Kumou-jinja Shrine is dedicated to the deity of the ancient city of Hikone. The shrine was originally built during the Heian period (794-1185 CE) and has since undergone several renovations. Its architecture reflects the traditional Japanese style, with a distinctive vermilion torii gate that serves as the main entrance.
