Ise no Kuni Dainichi Tsukiyomi Twenty-four Kami Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the Nishiomi District of Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The shrine was built in 1892 and enshrines the 24 gods of the Ise region as worshiped by the local inhabitants. The shrine's architecture is typical of a rural Japanese shrine, with a main hall and several smaller shrines dedicated to each of the 24 kami.

Visitor tip

To fully appreciate the shrine's architecture, visit during the cherry blossom season (late March to early April) when the nearby trees are in bloom.

Cultural notes

The shrine is closely associated with the legend of the 24 gods who descended from heaven and were appointed as local deities. The shrine also hosts a festival in May to celebrate the arrival of summer, known as Tanabata.

Historical note

The shrine was built in 1892 to commemorate the transfer of the deities from Ise to Shiga Prefecture.
