Located in the coastal town of Matsudo, Ibaraki Prefecture, Tsukudaniyamanoegusukuji or 'bird viewing hall', is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of birds and fishing. The shrine's primary enshrined deity is Hachiman Okami, with other kami including Ebisu, Ryujin and Yamato no Orochi. The shrine's architecture reflects the style typical of old Japanese temples, with a wooden torii gate and a honden featuring an impressive wooden shōgenba.

Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its association with the legend of the 'bird-man', a mythical creature said to have brought grain from the spirit world. During the annual Obon festival, visitors can see locals dressed in traditional costumes performing rituals to honor their ancestors and celebrate the harvest season.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 1642 as a shrine dedicated to Hachiman Okami by a local farmer who had a vision of the god's appearance on a bird he found near his fields.
