Rokudo Shrine, located in the city of Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture is characteristic of the Kofuku style, with a large torii gate and a hall for the main shrine. According to legend, the shrine was founded by Prince Takaakira in 1185 during the Kamakura period. Today, Rokudo Shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional festivals.

Visitor tip
To avoid long lines, visit the shrine early in the morning or later in the evening when possible. The shrine's gift shop is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Cultural notes
Rokudo Shrine is associated with Inari Okami, the Shinto deity of rice and fertility. During the spring equinox festival, the shrine holds a traditional dance performance called 'Shishimai'. The shrine's garden also features a unique stone lantern that is said to have been placed there by Prince Takaakira himself.
