Kiyomizu-dera's lesser-known cousin, Ōtsuka Tsukimori Shrine in Miyagi Prefecture is dedicated to the Shinto deity Ryūjin, the god of the sea and storms. Located near the coast, it is said to be a place where fishermen pray for safe voyages and bountiful catches. The shrine's architecture reflects its coastal location with wooden shachihoko (fish-like creatures) decorations, while the kami enshrined include Ryūjin as well as other sea deities.
