Cultural notes
Spring Day Shrine is closely associated with the mythology of Amaterasu, and its New Year (Shōgatsu) festival is an important event in Shiga Prefecture. The shrine also holds a unique ritual called 'Yudofu Festival', where yudofu (boiled tofu) is served to commemorate Amaterasu's descent from heaven.
