楠神社

Fukuoka

楠神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Inari Okami, patron deity of rice, fertility, and prosperity. Located in Fukuoka Prefecture, the shrine is one of the oldest and most important in Kyushu. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period, with a characteristic vermillion gate (torii) and a serene garden. Visitors can pray for good fortune, love, and success at the numerous shrines dedicated to Inari Okami within the complex.

Cultural notes

Inari Okami is often depicted with multiple foxes (known as kitsune) associated with his powers of fertility and prosperity. Visitors can also participate in the annual Spring Festival (Hanami), where they can pray for good fortune and enjoy traditional foods and drinks.

The exact date of its founding is unknown, but the shrine has been in existence since at least the Heian period (794-1185 CE).
