A branch shrine of the famous Kumano Sanzan in Wakayama Prefecture, this Kanagawa shrine maintains the spiritual traditions of the Kumano faith. Like other Kumano shrines throughout Japan, it serves as a local center for worship of the Kumano deities and preserves the mountain worship traditions that originated in the Kii Peninsula.
