Yellow Beard Shrine, located in the city of Yasuoka in Shimane Prefecture, is one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines, dating back to the 7th century. The shrine enshrines the kami known as Hachiman, a god of war and protection, as well as other regional deities such as Yamatsumi-no-kami, who presides over rivers and waterways.
