Located in the town of Karatsu, Shimane Prefecture, Jyūshi Inariwa Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of rice and agriculture. The shrine is famous for its impressive vermilion torii gate and traditional architecture. While little is known about the founding era, it is believed to have been established during the Edo period.

Cultural notes

The shrine is connected to the mythology of Inari Ōkami, a kami often depicted with multiple foxes. According to legend, Inari-san was so moved by his devotee Jyūshi's prayers that he granted him eternal prosperity and a bountiful harvest. The shrine still honors this myth through its traditional festivals, such as the 'Jyūshi Matsuri', which features fox performances and offerings.
