Located in the heart of Edogawa, Tokyo,田端神社 (Tandō Shrine) is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Ōkuninushi, known as the god of agriculture and fertility. The shrine's architecture reflects its origins during the Heian period, with a main hall built in 1668. Visitors can experience traditional Japanese culture by attending one of the shrine's many festivals throughout the year.

Visitor tip
Visit the shrine during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding park.
Cultural notes
Ōkuninushi is also associated with the mythological story of Inari Okami, who was said to have been transformed into a fox. The shrine's famous fox sculpture, known as Kitsune, is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed during the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
