Cultural notes
In Japanese mythology, Amaterasu is believed to reside in heaven. During the annual Aki Matsuri festival, local residents dress up in traditional costumes and reenact a mythological battle between the gods and monsters, which culminates in Amaterasu's victory.

The Toyosu Shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II.
