Tangoshinsha is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture. The shrine was originally dedicated to the deity Tangosho, a god of education and learning. Over time, it has come to be associated with the kami of good fortune, prosperity, and children's health. Today, visitors can see a large wooden statue of Tangosho, as well as several vermilion torii gates and beautiful gardens.

Visitor tip
To make an offering to the kami, visitors should ring the temple bell three times before making a prayer, as this is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
Cultural notes
Tangoshinsha is also known for its unique festival celebrations, which include a traditional dance performance called the 'Tanabata Festival' in honor of the star-crossed lovers Viola and Orihime. The shrine's beautiful gardens are said to be an ideal place for picnics and relaxation.

The shrine was first established in the Edo period (1603-1868) and has undergone numerous renovations and expansions since then.
