Rich in tradition, Fuisashin-ma Shrine is a Shinto temple located at the foot of Mt. Fuji's non-dominant peak, Kita-Fuji. Dedicated to the god of love and poetry, Inari Okami, the shrine is famous for its vermilion torii gate and beautiful autumn foliage. The shrine has been rebuilt several times due to damage from natural disasters, with the current structure dating back to 1959.

Cultural notes
As a major pilgrimage site for poets and lovers, Fuisashin-ma Shrine is famous for its poetic emakimono, hand-painted scrolls that tell the story of Inari Okami's love for his servant. During the spring cherry blossom season (late March to early April), festival-goers can enjoy traditional dances, food stalls, and sake bars.
Historical note
Founded in 1897 as a replacement for an earlier shrine that was destroyed by fire in 1868.
