Inari Okunoina, dedicated to Inari Ōkami, the Shinto deity of rice and fertility, is a historic Shinto shrine located in the town of Annaka in Gunma Prefecture. The shrine is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that form a tunnel leading up to the main hall. This unique structure represents the abundance of rice and prosperity of the local area.

Visitor tip

Inari Ōkami is often depicted with multiple faces, symbolizing the many aspects of fertility and prosperity. The shrine's unique torii gate structure is also said to resemble a giant pair of ears, which are thought to be Inari's iconic feature.
