Located in the city of Kanazawa, Higashi-ji Temple, or Dayotsu-jinja, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional architecture, which reflects the Edo period. Cultural notes
As an important shrine in Ishikawa Prefecture, Higashi-ji is known for its association with the regional deity, Tsuki-yomi no Kami (Sun Goddess). The shrine also hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Dayotsu-matsuri festival in September.
Historical note
The shrine was originally built in 1849 during the Ansei era, but it has undergone several renovations and restorations over the years.
