Cultural notes

The shrine is famous for its association with the legend of the White Mountain Shrine maiden, who was said to have been turned into a white deer by the god of the mountain. During the spring cherry blossom season, visitors can participate in the ' Cherry Blossom Viewing' festival, which honors the shrine's patron deity.

Historical note

The shrine was rebuilt in 1623 during the Edo period, after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1608.
