Located in the city of Kanazawa, Shirojuku Ward of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, White Mountain Shrine is one of Japan's most historic and culturally significant shrines. As the shrine name suggests, it is dedicated to the mountain deity known as Yari no kami, also referred to as the 'Mountain God'. Established in 767 AD by Emperor Shōmu, White Mountain Shrine was one of the oldest shrines to be founded in Japan during the Nara period.
