Tōgūji, or the large mountain shrine, is a Shinto temple located in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Dedicated to the mountain god Ō-no-Miya-kami, it is known for its unique architecture and strong connection to the local community.

Cultural notes
Ō-no-Miya-kami is the mountain deity enshrined at Tōgūji. The shrine is also connected to the local community through its participation in the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, which celebrates the arrival of summer and the traditional Japanese mountain climbing ceremony.
Historical note
Founded during the Edo period (1603-1867), Tōgūji was originally a small shrine dedicated to the mountain deity Ō-no-Miya-kami.
