日吉・愛宕神社

Ishikawa

Located in Ishikawa Prefecture,日吉・愛宕神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the gods of love and prosperity. With its rich history dating back to the Nara period (710-794 CE), the shrine has been an important cultural and spiritual center for locals and visitors alike. The shrine's current structure, however, dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868 CE). Enshrined within its grounds are several deities, including Hachiman, the god of war and justice, and Inari, the god of fertility and prosperity.

Cultural notes

This shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. During the Setsubun festival in February, visitors can participate in the ritual of throwing beans to ward off evil spirits. The shrine also hosts an annual autumn festival, where locals dress up in traditional costumes and perform rituals to ensure a bountiful harvest.

Founded during the Nara period in 760 CE, the shrine was later rebuilt in the Edo period.
