稲荷神社

Ishikawa

Located in the city of Kanazawa, this shrine is one of the most famous Shinto shrines in Japan and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dedicated to Ryujin, the Dragon God of the Sea and the Shinto god of storms and fertility, it also enshrines various regional kami including Inari Okami, Inazuma kami, and others. The shrine is renowned for its beautiful gardens, tranquil ponds, and ornate wooden architecture.

Historical note

Established in 757 AD by Emperor Shomu, it was built as a memorial to the legendary emperor's brother and was later dedicated to Ryujin.
