Cultural notes

Koshin-ji Shrine is known for its connections to the Japanese mythology of 'kagami,' or mirror images. According to legend, a shrine maiden reflected her image into a mirror, which was then placed at the shrine as an offering to Koshin, symbolizing the connection between the spiritual and physical worlds.

Historical note

The shrine was built in 1591 during the Sengoku period, a time of great turmoil in Japan.
