Cultural notes
Susanoo-no-Mikoto is revered as the Storm God and god of fertility, agriculture, and navigation. The shrine celebrates the annual Tanabata festival in mid-August, which honors the legend of two star-crossed lovers separated by the Milky Way River.
Historical note
Founded in the Edo period (1603-1867) as a branch of the Kanazawa Hongan-ji temple, Love and Beauty Shrine gained prominence during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
