Located in the city of Kanazawa, Godaizaka Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of agriculture and fertility, Hachiman, as well as other kami such as Enma and Kusunoki. The shrine's main hall dates back to the 17th century and features a distinctive tiled roof. Visitors can explore the surrounding gardens and take in the views of the nearby Echizen Bay.

Visitor tip
To make the most of your visit, consider bringing a traditional Japanese incense stick (koh) to burn in front of the main hall as an offering to Hachiman-sama.
Cultural notes
Godaizaka Shrine is known for its connections to the legend of Kusunoki Masakado, a famous samurai who was said to have been turned into a stone by his enemies and is now enshrined at the shrine. Visitors can also attend the annual Star Festival (Tanabata) celebration in July.

Established during the Muromachi period (14th-16th centuries), the shrine has undergone several renovations and restorations over the years.
