Located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture's capital, Hie Shrine (Hachiman) is one of Japan's most famous Shinto shrines, dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman. The shrine complex, which includes several smaller shrines and a museum, is situated at the foot of the Higashi Chaya District's old town, reflecting Kanazawa's historical importance as a hub for commerce and trade. While the primary kami enshrined here is not八幡神社 but Hachiman, the shrine also honors other deities, including the goddess of wisdom, Bishamon, and various regional spirits known as yurei.
