Ishikawa

Fudo Myoo, the Unmoving Buddha, is enshrined at Noto-son Shrine in Ishikawa Prefecture. Founded during the Edo period (1603-1867), the shrine is dedicated to a powerful Buddhist deity associated with good fortune, prosperity, and protection from natural disasters. Visitors can experience the serene atmosphere of the shrine's gardens and observe the distinctive stone statue of Fudo Myoo.

Cultural notes

Fudo Myoo is also associated with the legend of a great flood in Ishikawa Prefecture, said to have occurred during his lifetime. As a result, visitors can experience the unique 'flood' festival held annually in June, where participants dress up as Fudo Myoo and reenact the mythological event.
