Gunma

Located in the prefecture of Gunma, Eight Horses Temple (Hachimantai) Shrine is a prominent Shinto temple dedicated to the god Hachiman, also known as the kami of war. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese styles, with a main hall covered in gold leaf and a five-story pagoda. Eight Horses Temple has played an important role in Japanese history, particularly during the Edo period, when it served as a key location for the worship of Hachiman and the veneration of the samurai class.

Visitor tip
