若宮八幡神社

Ishikawa

Located in the city of Kanazawa, Ifoshi Shrine is dedicated to Hachiman, the Shinto god of war and patron deity of samurai. The shrine complex includes a museum featuring a collection of armor and swords, as well as several smaller shrines dedicated to various kami.

Visitor tip

To avoid long lines, consider visiting Ifoshi Shrine early in the morning or later in the evening when it's less crowded.

Cultural notes

As a shrine dedicated to Hachiman, Ifoshi Shrine is known for its traditional armor and sword exhibitions. Visitors can also experience the shrine's unique 'tengu no sato' (tengu village), a section of the complex featuring mythological tengu statues.

Historical note

The shrine was originally built in 1568 during the Sengoku period, but it has undergone numerous renovations and expansions over the centuries.
