According to legend, the shrine was founded during the Heian period (794-1185 CE) and has been an important center for worship of Raijin ever since. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance, with a wooden torii gate and a five-story pagoda that dates back to the Edo period (1603-1867 CE).
