New Miyajima Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto, known as 'the storm god' in Japanese mythology. The shrine is situated on the shores of Lake Biwa, one of Japan's largest lakes, and is said to be the final resting place of the legendary hero Ō no Yasumeru. The shrine complex features traditional Japanese architecture with a vermilion torii gate, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and walking paths.
