Cultural notes
Shirafu Daijingugu is associated with the god of agriculture, Sugawara no Michizane, who is revered for his role in bringing prosperity to local farmers. Historical note
Founded in 1196 by Emperor Go-Toba as a subsidiary shrine to the more famous Izumiyama Shrine, originally dedicated to the Shinto deities of rice and fertility.
