Obihiro Shrine, located in the heart of Obihiro City in Hokkaido, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Sukunaregami, who watches over farmers and the land. The shrine's main hall was built during the Edo period (1603-1868) and features a unique curved roof design that resembles a rice paddy. Visitors can admire the serene gardens, which are said to be particularly beautiful during cherry blossom season.

Cultural notes
Obihiro Shrine is associated with the deity Tamayusubi-no-kami, a kami believed to grant fertility to crops. During the Obihiro Cherry Blossom Festival, held annually in May, shrine priests perform rituals to ensure a bountiful harvest and beautiful blossoms.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1962.
