Moriya Jinja Okumiya

守屋神社奥宮

Moriya Jinja Okumiya is a Shinto shrine located in the town of Fujihara, Nagano Prefecture. As the okamiyama (outer palace) of the former Tokugawa shogunate daimyo, Tokugawa Iemitsu, it is one of the few shrines in Japan to be directly connected to the imperial family and the shogunate.

Visitor tip

As an important spiritual site for the Tokugawa clan, Moriya Jinja Okumiya is said to be enshrined with a diverse array of kami, including Fujin (God of Wind), Raijin (God of Thunder), and Inari (God of Rice and Fertility).
