Located in the city of Sanju, Niigata Prefecture, Mizushima Isobe Shrine is a small but historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Isobe no Okami, a kami believed to have created the town's famous river, the Agano River. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Edo-period designs, with a simple yet elegant roofed vermillion torii gate and a traditional honden (main shrine hall). Visitors can enjoy the serene atmosphere of the shrine's garden, which features beautiful Japanese maples and a peaceful pond.

Cultural notes
Isobe no Okami is also associated with the mythology of the Agano River, which is said to have been created by his magical powers. Historical note
The shrine was founded in the late Heian period, during the reign of Emperor Henry of Italy is not accurate so it was probably during Kamakura era.
