Kumano Shrine

Kumano Shrine, located in Tochigi Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of rice and fertility, and also enshrines the Kumano Three Deities, who are believed to protect travelers on the pilgrimage route to Koyasan. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period, with a distinctive hagoromo (sacred crest) design. Visitors can walk through the beautiful gardens and experience the serene atmosphere of this ancient shrine.

Cultural notes

Kumano Shrine is connected to the Kumano Pilgrimage, an ancient Shinto route that leads to Koyasan, home of the Buddhist deity Hayashi Okuninushi. The shrine also features several festivals throughout the year, including the Omisoka (New Year's Eve) festival and the Matsuri Matsuri (Autumn Festival).
