Located in the town of Sakurako, Chiba Prefecture, is Katori Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Amaterasu, the sun goddess and daughter of the storm god Susanowo. Founded in 744 AD, it is considered one of Japan's most important shrines. The shrine complex includes several buildings, including the Haiden (main hall) and the Torii gate. Katori Shrine is a major pilgrimage site during the autumnal festival, with visitors coming from all over to pray for good fortune and prosperity.
