日吉神社

Shiga

Dayutsu-ji Temple, located in Kyoto, is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu but has an important connection with the Dayutsu-ji of Biwa Lake, which is said to have been built by Emperor Seiwa in 764 AD. The shrine at Biwa Lake shares a similar architectural style and a focus on the sun god and water purification. The kami enshrined here are Sun Goddess Amaterasu and Water God Biwa-no-O-no-Kami.
