矢放神社

Niigata

Located in the town of Kosaka, Niigata Prefecture, Hayaoshi Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to various kami. The shrine's main hall features a unique 'dango' roof, which is said to resemble a dango ball. According to local legend, the shrine was built in 1614 during the Edo period to enshrine a sacred cedar tree that was brought back from the island of Hokkaido.

The shrine was rebuilt after the Great Niigata Earthquake of 1994.
