Located in the Tono District of Iwate Prefecture, Shinzan Shrine is dedicated to the Shinto deity Tsukuyomi, also known as the Moon God. The shrine's architecture reflects its history dating back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE), with a main hall and shrine torii gate. As one of Japan's oldest shrines, it is considered an important cultural and historical site in the region.

文化的背景
The shrine is closely associated with the legend of Tsukuyomi's son, Ninigi-no-Mikoto, who was said to have brought rice cultivation from the land of the gods. During the spring festival, visitors can participate in a ritual dance called 'Kawabi-dori' which reenacts this mythological event.
歴史
Established during the Muromachi period (1336-1573 CE), Shinzan Shrine was rebuilt after being damaged by earthquakes in the 16th century.
