文化的背景

Shinmei-ja is famous for its unique architectural style known as 'Kami-yagura,' which features a five-story pagoda dedicated to the kami (deity) of wisdom, literature and education. The shrine is also associated with the legend of the great hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who is said to have visited the shrine during his travels.

歴史

Founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE), Shinmei-ja was once the main shrine of the Yamato Dynasty.
