甚光大明神

To make an offering at the shrine, first tie a prayer bell to the torii gate. Then, take the bell to your favorite spot outside the shrine grounds, tie a ribbon to its handle, and tie it to a tree trunk or fence post, asking for the god's blessing on your behalf.

文化的背景

According to local legend, Raijin is believed to have been called upon by the early inhabitants of Miyagi Prefecture to ensure bountiful harvests. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in October, which features traditional dances and food stalls.

歴史

The shrine was established in the Edo period (1603-1867) as a branch shrine of the Hachiman Shrine, dedicated to the god of war Hachiman. Over time, it has been enriched with new deities and mythological figures.
